The new site is up and running, but I am still bug-checking and adding data..
Airchiefradios.com is a site developed to collect and share information about Firestone Air Chief Radios.
Most of the original information and advertisements on ths site come from Firestone Home and Auto Supply catalogs. A wide variety of products were offered, not just radios and tires! Appliances, bicycles, and almost anything for the home could be found in these catalogs.
Radios are denoted by the "product year" they were designed for. Like cars, radios usually came out in the fall for the following model year. New radios typically showed up in the Fall/Winter catalogs. So, a 1940 radio typically debuted in the Fall/Winter 1939 catalog. At times, radios showed up in the middle of a model year. Information about each radio is noted as such:
If a model year isn't listed, or a model number not noted, then I don't have any information on it. I am still gathering information, particularly from the 1950s. When that information is available, I will udpate my database and this site.
Information on this site is free of charge, but please don't abuse it. I've spent a lot of time and money collecting these resources, scanning them, and putting them online. Please don't use images, manuals, etc, on e-Bay or any other site for your own financial gain. Thanks!
